Description: The basic elements of building spreadsheets will be introduced. Topics will include building formulas, copying, moving, and pasting cells, formatting, and printing spreadsheets.
- Spreadsheet concept. How Excel can save time with repetitive calculations
- Overview of the ribbons
- Understanding how the menus are organized. Commands that affect cells vs. columns, vs. worksheets. Knowing the logical hierarchy of Excel makes users more comfortable in this environment.
- Building formulas. Calculations and summing of values.
- Copying cells
- Having the computer automatically fill in a range of cells with equal incremental values.
- Creating reusable lists
- Moving cells
- Formatting values. Adding $ signs to numbers, displaying different numbers of decimals.
- Modifying the layout of the spreadsheet.
- Adjusting column sizes
- font changes, cell alignment, bold, italics, underline
- Movement keys. Shortcuts on moving.
- Printing.
Computer consultant Ginnie Floraday will be conducting several free online courses for our members on Blue Beam, Excel, and word. Ginnie has been consulting and teaching in the computer field for over thirty years and has worked with SMACNA chapters during that time. Her primary focus is software training and computer consulting, working in the Microsoft Office applications and Blue Beam. Ginnie has also worked on troubleshooting documents and designing custom curriculum in during group and one-on-one remote training sessions for her clients.
