SMCA Committees and Task Forces
Budget and Finance Committee
The Budget & Finance Committee oversees SMCA finances and investments throughout the year to ensure that association programs are properly funded. The Committee is charged with drafting and monitoring the annual budget for association activities.
Joint Apprenticeship & Training Committee
The JATC is collaborative group representing both SMCA and Sheet Metal Workers Local 19. This group oversees all aspects of the Philadelphia pre-apprentice and apprenticeship programs, which provide SMCA contractors with a consistent pipeline of skilled and trained workers.
Education & Technology Committee
The Education and Technical Committees ensure that SMCA and its contractors are up-to-date on industry standards, technological developments, and certifications. They are heavily involved in our events planning, taking the lead on seminars and training programs throughout the year. They are also SMCA's liaison to engineers and architects in the area, frequently collaborating with industry partners such as ASHRAE and MAEBA.
SMCA Emerging Leaders
The SMCA Emerging Leaders group is comprised of individuals new to the industry and/or association who are passionate about shaping the future of the industry and becoming the next generation of SMCA leadership. Members of this group are encouraged to sit in on Board and Committee meetings and recommend programs and initiatives to SCMA leadership.
Legislative Committee
The Legislative Committee advocates for favorable legislative and regulatory policies on behalf of the industry. Members of the committee work closely with federal, state, and local politicians and agencies, ensuring that the voices of SMCA members are heard.
Architectural Committee
The Committee monitors trends, policies, and best practices affecting the architectural sheet metal market nationally and within the SMCA region. It develops and promotes education and business opportunities for members and their employees.
Testing & Balancing Committee
The Committee monitors testing, adjusting, and balancing activity nationally and within the SMCA region. The Committee develops and promotes the further education and benefits of ICB/TABB for members and their employees, architects, engineers, and building owners and managers.
Residential and Service Committee
The Committee monitors residential, light commercial, and service areas of the industry nationally and within SMCA’s region. It develops and promotes training for members and their employees working in these parts of the industry.
HVAC Industry Committee
This new Committee provides structure within SMCA to identify training and best practices for members performing duct fabrication and installation in the Building Trades market.
Safety Committee
The Safety Committee raises members’ awareness of safety issues and provides education and support for their safety programs. The Committee brings Safety Professionals serving SMCA contractors together for periodic meetings and supports them as needed.
Construction Technology Committee
In recognition of the rapidly changing technological landscape and its impact on the industry, this new committee is charged with serving as a source of information for SMCA members and vetting various technologies related to the construction industry.
Membership Committee
The Membership Committee is tasked with recruitment and retention, making sure that new contractors are aware of what the association offers our members, encouraging them to join, and communicating with SMCA leadership about the issues that matter most to our members (and potential members).
Marketing Committee
The Marketing Committee is tasked with "getting the word out" about SMCA's member firms and the important work they do throughout the Delaware Valley.
Events Committee
The Events Committee plans and organizes SMCA's slate of annual events, including our golf outing, sporting clays outing, and annual business meeting.
